Digital Storyteller at Camps International
Working as an Expedition Photographer and Storyteller managing the Raleigh Costa Rica’s Instagram site
Recognised under the Ramsar Convention, Caño Negro is a place of international ecological importance. Its wetlands, lagoons and surrounding tropical rainforest support extraordinary wildlife and the communities who actively protect and shape this landscape.
During my time on the programme, I created content across both short-form social media and long-form storytelling. I story produced and filmed the following projects:
Viaje al Aprendizaje
A citizen science initiative using camera traps to better understand wildlife behaviour, reduce human-wildlife conflict and support long-term, community led tourism
Costa Rica’s National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC)
Whilst Costa Rica is famous for it’s extraordinary biodiversity, SINAC is the nationwide conservation authority, structured through a decentralised network of regional conservation areas that translate national environmental policy into locally action. I had the pleasure of interviewing SINAC to learn about the challenges the local wildlife and community face in Caño Negro and ways we can help support this important ecosystem.
Cultural Exchange and Immersion through food, dance and community
A key part of my work was exploring the impact ofconnecting young peoplewith local culture. Through food, dance and daily life, students engaged directly with Costa Rican culture, shaping perspective in a way that goes far beyond the classroom.
