MAKING CHEESE WITH METAXIA
AT KOKATAS RESTAURANT
IN VASKINA, GREECE
Learn traditional practices and be a part of the community with Nomia Nomad - the heart of the Peloponnese, Leonidio
My mission during my trip in Leonidio, was to help showcase the beautiful people that live there and the work that they do. Typically, Leonidio is known for being a climbing hotspot, but there’s so much to see and do. In order to understand Greece, learning about food is a must and Voskina is a diamond location that is not well known.
“You make bonds when you make food. I put my energy now, and that is given to you. It is an important thing.”
I spent time in the beautiful village, Vaskina, a 40 minute drive roughly from Leonidio. The journey itself follows the towering roads up the mountain towards the sky.
I was introduced to Metaxia (translated as ‘silk lady’) who taught me how they make cheese. I captured this through photos and video content. Blogs will be shared by Nomia Nomad - final works coming soon
